2019 in Review

In the midst of planning the annual seminar, we lost our executive manager and the IAASE board members had to put their heads together to finish the job. It took months of planning, and Kudos go to the board who worked hard to produce a terrific seminar with a great turnout in Charlotte, NC in October 2019.

There is surprisingly a lot to do to put together a seminar, starting with researching venues, investigating locations conducive to a good turnout, obtaining rate quotes for rooms and amenities, all of which requires a great deal of follow up.

A huge thanks goes to Ashika Weeks for building the conference website and sending out periodic email blasts to solicit more volunteers. Another huge thanks goes to Keith West and Dean Hare for keeping an eye on the finances, so we did not go over budget. A big thanks to every volunteer who worked the registration desk at the conference, handing out programs packets, badges, lanyards and answering a thousand questions.

Sponsors helped cover the cost of our meals, breaks and Sunday reception. This years exhibitors were Accelevant Premium Audit, EXL Services, Insurance Audit Services, NEIS and Wilkinson Insurance Services.

Speakers this year came from all aspects of the industry, including the North Carolina Rating Bureau, premium fee audit, carrier aspect, fronting and fraud, the National Council on Compensation Insurance and the Premium Audit Advisory Service.

Topics included the rating bureau’s role in premium audit, QuickBooks tips for auditors, what’s new at NCCI, managing remote employees, premium audit considerations of a new insurance company, impact of premium audit on fronting for P & C coverages, PAAS’ take on construction challenges and the tools to help fight premium fraud.

We are new this blog thing and just getting going, so stay tuned for more.
