Keith West, Senior VP of Operations/Wilkinson Insurance Services, IAASE President 17-18
WOW! Another year is on the books. I want to start by thanking all of the members of the IAASE for their continued support of our association. We have a solid, steady membership and are making efforts to broaden our base with additional members. This begins with the local chapter. If you know of someone not involved in a local chapter for their area, please encourage them to visit one of the local chapter meetings, direct them to the IAASE website or have them contact one of our board members for more information. There is nothing better in the industry of premium audit than collaboration with our fellow peers.
As we embark on 2019 let’s focus on what makes our jobs possible…people! Are people hard to work with sometimes? Yes, we are! What makes us a “complete body” as an association is the diversity that each of us brings to the table. Without the individuality of everyone being different, we may never get anything accomplished. If we choose to set aside our own egos and make the development of the IAASE our focus, we will increase its outreach and affect on the premium audit industry in the Southeast. I challenge you in 2019 to find at least one person in the premium audit industry that you do not know and establish a working friendship. Lean on each other for advice, opinions, problem resolution, etc.! After that, each of you find one more, that would make four. Then the four of you reach one more each, that makes eight. Can you see the impact we can have in IAASE region if we make this a goal?
For 2019, determine what “YOU” can do to make the IAASE better. Will it be:
- An outstanding article submitted for publication?
- A practice problem and solution of something you have encountered in your daily audit work?
- Volunteering in a local chapter to promote the IAASE?
- Finding out you can serve the IAASE as a board member or officer
What will you choose to make a difference? All participation is greatly appreciated! When many hands are involved, the workload is lightened and much more is accomplished. I trust 2019 will be a profitable year for everyone.
